Position Overview
The Team Lead at the Kickapoo Coffee Bayfield cafe will hold a central role in the success of team morale, outstanding customer experience and consistent high quality execution of the menu. As part of the leadership of the cafe, the Team Lead will work closely with the Cafe Coordinator to teach, lead, share and inspire within the cafe.
Core Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Cafe Coordinator to lead, manage and hold team accountable
- Provide excellent customer service and stellar coffee drink preparation
- Work with the Education department to train baristas to Kickapoo Coffee and the Specialty Coffee Association’s standards
- Ability to work the espresso machine and other brew equipment
- Perform some preventative maintenance duties on equipment throughout the year
- Ability to work bar shifts several times per week
- Develop and maintain a value based, ethical and uplifting culture within the cafe
Requirements and Desired Skills
- Customer Service Enthusiast
- Ability to communicate effectively and promptly with staff and customers
- Strong desire and ability to teach and lead others
- Previous experience as a barista, preferably in a role of leadership
- Self Starter with impeccable follow through
- Act as a customer liaison and communication support to café staff
- Passionate and dedicated to specialty coffee
- Desire to continually be challenged and grow as a coffee professional
- Passion for ethically sourced, organic, high quality coffee and food and for supporting farmer cooperatives
- Good sense of humor a must
