SOLAR POWERED ROASTERY

In 2015, when we threw the big red lever to "on" and went solar powered, we became one of the first coffee roasters in the world to generate all its power from an on-site solar array. With the exception of our vintage Probat gas-powered roasters and winter heating, our entire roastery, offices, and production floor are powered by a 96-panel, 30-kilowatt solar array that sits just outside our front door.
Going solar was a momentous step for our little company, but our efforts can’t stop there. Creating a resilient future demands a dedication to challenge the status quo. From purchasing carbon offsets for all of our wholesale shipping orders to sourcing 94-97% of our coffees by volume from certified organic producers, our efforts to shrink our footprint and mitigate our ecological impact extend beyond our field of solar panels.

Farmers acutely feel the impact of climate change. Changes in rainfall, seasons, and the spread of plant diseases like la roya threaten how and where coffee can be produced.
A truly sustainable future in coffee must be a just and resilient one. We're striving to ensure equitable farmer compensation, to support regenerative agricultural practice, to use the most earth-friendly packaging available, and to keep collecting sunshine at our roastery while striving for a bright future.
