This last week, we had the pleasure of watching this micro-lot from Agustin Gomez Hernandez roll into the roastery. It’s an incredible feeling to visit a coffee as it’s being harvested and then see it again half-way around the world.
Our co-owners, TJ and Caleb made two separate visits to Agustin’s farm this year, once before harvest, and once again as the harvest was wrapping up. Now in his seventies, Agustin is the Comon Cooperative’s largest member and an amazing success story. From modest beginnings as a landless, seasonal picker, he was able to slowly save, purchase his own farm and grow it to 10 hectres over many years with his exceptional coffees.
We’ll be posting more dispatches from our travels with Agustin.
