Position Overview

Wonderstate is a growing company that is in need of a Finance Manager to provide planning, analytical, and reporting support to the company. The position is responsible for forecasting, budgeting, and monthly financial reporting. This position needs an individual who thrives in problem solving, has a natural sense of curiosity, and is willing to bring their experience to help build improvements within our core financial processes & systems. Additionally, this role will collaborate with other teams across the business to develop systems, provide financial guidance and insight, and ensure fiscal responsibility and sound decision making.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports to support company reporting cycles, including weekly and month-end close processes.
    • Lead forecasting and budget development processes for all 5 business units, and consolidation of all businesses, with full P&L responsibility; from Gross Revenue to Net Income; along with balance sheet and statement of cash flow.
    • Partner with the Accounting Manager to ensure accurate financial reporting & processes.
    • Responsible for identifying revenue and margin opportunities to drive financial improvement.
    • Partner with managers to create department expense budgets and review spending.
    • Deliver presentations monthly that will help with storytelling; summarizes key insights for café managers, director of café operations, and leadership team.
    • Become an expert in Wonderstate’s operations & data systems to facilitate process improvement and accuracy in reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
    • Responsible for the data structure and creating processes for how it flows together.
    • Conduct financial modeling to analyze and determine the financial impact of go-to-market strategies (pricing, promotions, SKU/channel profitability etc.). Highlight issues and alternative courses of action based on results of the analysis.
    • Partner with cross-functional teams to summarize new business proposals, forecast financial impact, gap-closure plans, and highlight risks and opportunities.
    • Improve & streamline processes relating to financial transactions to best support all businesses.
    • Drive business decision making to achieve long term strategic plans.

    Required Skills & Abilities

    • Proficiency with Quickbooks and integrated web apps
    • Possess advanced Excel and Modeling skills; pivot tables/x-lookups
    • Team-player with a can-do positive attitude
    • Problem-solving skills and initiative with a natural sense of curiosity
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Come from a hospitality, retail, or customer service environment and have a passion for customer service in everything you do

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
    • 3+ years finance and/or accounting experience
    • Demonstrates solid leadership and process improvement skills.
    • Previous people management experience preferred

    Work Environment

    • Core hours are Monday-Thursday; Occasional Friday/weekend availability required; Work schedule varies each week based on business needs
    • Hybrid working model, WFH one day per week.
