About the Coffee

Summer Solstice is a celebration of long days when the sun lingers, the cicadas hum, and time seems to slow. It’s a magical season here in the Driftless—spent floating down rivers, tending overabundant gardens, and gathering around late-night fires under the stars. This coffee invites us to pause, savor the moment, and soak in the warmth of the season.

This year’s Solstice blend features a single selection from the Worka Chelbessa Washing Station in Gedeb, Ethiopia—an area long revered for producing coffees with stunning florality and radiant clarity. In the cup, we taste crisp lemon brightness, a saccharine caramel sweetness, and a smooth, softly floral finish reminiscent of peach infused black tea.

About the Coffee / Producer

All coffee in the world traces its roots back to Ethiopia.
Long before it was ever commercially cultivated, coffee grew wild in the ancient highland forests of Kaffa, Ethiopia. While the story of coffee’s discovery is still cloaked in mystery, one thing remains clear: centuries after its spread across the globe, Ethiopia continues to produce some of the most exceptional coffees on earth.

What makes these coffees so special? It’s the unique microclimates, rich biodiversity, and deep-rooted traditions of forest-grown cultivation. The flavors carry an ancient, almost elemental character—vibrant, untamed, and impossible to replicate anywhere else.

It’s these qualities that draw us back to Ethiopian coffees, year after year. Just as the days stretch longer and our lives come alive with summer’s return, fresh Ethiopian arrivals land—full of bright florals, vibrant citrus, and smooth, elegant textures. There’s something almost magical in their timing: as the season awakens, so do our senses.

This selection comes from the Worka Chelbessa Washing Station in the Gedeb woreda—an area often associated with the famed name "Yirgacheffe." For us, coffees from this region evoke some of our earliest memories of falling in love with Ethiopian coffee.

Worka Chelbessa coffees are known for their bright citric acidity, tea-like clarity, and notes of caramelized sugar, wrapped in plush stone fruit aromatics. Over the years, this washing station has become nearly synonymous with this sought-after flavor profile.

We’re thrilled to share this coffee with you—just in time for the season’s long days and summer adventures.
