For the first time in our history, we have a beautiful single origin coffee two ways: regular and decaf. It's a testament to its quality that we're excited to brew it in a myriad of ways, no matter the caffeine content.
Santa Cruz Ozolotepec is a small coffee-growing town of less than 1,000 people in the Southern state of Oaxaca. We first visited Oaxaca back in 2016 and have been buying small amounts of coffee from the area ever since. This is our second year purchasing coffee from Ozolotepec, specifically, and our first year purchasing an exclusively female-produced lot.
All of the producers belong to the UNECAFE Cooperative, a Oaxaca-based umbrella organization founded in 2009. Cooperatives like UNECAFE function as a way for smallholder farmers to organize together and realize economic gains that would be impossible otherwise.
Through their cooperative, members are allowed better access to production support like coffee plants and coffee pulping machines. They also have access to housing, ecological latrines, health campaigns, beehives for honey production, income diversification with poultry and many other social support.
We've proud to be working with the outstanding female producers of Ozolotepec and can't wait for you all to brew this exceptional coffee.
